MUSIC RIGHTS AGREEMENT and MASTER RECORDING LICENSE AGREEMENT
The following pages contain “templates” for two important documents: The Music Rights Agreement (Acquisition of Original Composition), and the Master Recording License Agreement. These documents have been drafted by the Board of the Association of Music Producers with the assistance of AICP/AMP legal counsel specializing in intellectual property law.
The Agreements reflect the state of business practices in the music and advertising industries today, and as such they enumerate the responsibilities of all parties, including mutual indemnification and warrantees. It is hoped that the language contained herein will not only help to clarify these responsibilities, but help assure fairness to all signatories as well.
The AMP Board, along with legal counsel, encourages all members to review these Agreements carefully, and to understand the differences between and applications of the License Agreement, and the Rights Agreement. Members are also encouraged to have their own attorneys review all Agreements on an individual basis, to assure that relevant aspects of each business transaction are properly reflected on paper.
