AMP WILL HOST BENEFIT FOR
REFUGEE RELIEF

Music Organization Celebrates First Anniversary with Good Cause

NEW YORK, NY, April 12, 1999 - What was planned initially as a one-year anniversary celebration for the Association of Music Producers became something else entirely on Wednesday evening when the AMP Board of Directors voted unanimously to turn the party into an industry-wide Fund-raiser for aid and relief to refugees of the war in Yugoslavia.

Called simply The Event for Refugee Relief, members of AMP expect to raise net proceeds in excess of $25,000, from both corporate sponsorship donations and ticket sales. The Event will be held Wednesday evening, May 5th, from 7 PM--11 PM at Webster Hall, the landmark club and performance venue, at 125 East 11th Street. Ticket prices are $50, and attendees will enjoy an open bar from 7-10 PM, hors d'oeuvres, live music on stage, and DJs for dancing.

To assure the success of The Event, many AMP member music companies have agreed to become corporate sponsors themselves. In addition, within just 24 hours of announcing The Event, other corporate sponsors have come forward, including SHOOT magazine, Howard Schwartz Recording, Creative Management Partners, Musically Yours and others. "The Event has already raised money for the refugee relief effort, and the invitations haven't even been printed," stated one AMP director.

Proceeds of The Event will be donated equally to CARE, Doctors Without Borders and the International Rescue Committee , organizations that are working directly in the refugee relief effort to provide food, shelter, medical and relocation assistance. For further information, to obtain tickets, or to become a corporate sponsor of The Event contact the AMP office at (212) 599-2456.
