This first panel in our 2024 AI panel series brings product leadership from two leading music technology companies to speak about their innovations in the music production & creation space with AI. Hear from Bill Podolak, Senior Product Manager at Native Instruments and Evan Dhillon, Co-Founder & CEO of Kits AI as they share about their companies’ latest product features & innovations, how their purpose centers creators, and discuss the possibilities of AI. Sound Design & Mnemonics

Join us for an educational panel moderated by Stone Irr, Senior Producer at Butter Music + Sound.

We'll explore the evolution of sonic branding through mnemonics and sound logos. We'll discuss the expansion of the term “sound design” and how we define these aspects of music production. And we will answer questions surrounding credit, compensation and value for both categories.

AMP gives a warm welcome to panelists Wilson Brown (Antfood), Craig Caniglia (Human), Amy Crawford (Made Music Studio), and Eric Ronick (Elias Arts), who will share their expertise on these topics.

Stone Irr

Stone Irr is the Senior Producer at award-winning music studio BUTTER Music and Sound in LA, and has worked in the music industry for nearly a decade. Stone has overseen music production for a variety of campaigns and projects ranging from top brands like Lexus, Uber, Adidas, Liberty Mutual, Amazon, Toyota, and Taco Bell. In addition, Stone has led music production for documentary films and multimedia projects. Stone is also a producer and musician signed to the label Darling Recordings.

Wilson Brown

Wilson is a composer and a creative entrepreneur. He founded and has helmed Antfood, one of the most lauded and innovative music and sound design studios on the planet, for over 15 years. Antfood brings artistry, effectiveness and power to ideas and messaging through audio. Wilson directs and composes work for clients such as Google, Nike, Apple, Instacart, CBS, SoFi, WarnerMedia and manages a team of more than 50 creatives and producers in New York, Los Angeles, São Paulo and Amsterdam.

His work has been honored at Cannes, Sundance, Annecy, TriBeCa, the Oscars, Emmys, Grammys, AICP (& Post), ADC, One Show, D&AD, LIA, AMP, and beyond. Wilson received a B.A in Music Composition and Theory and an M.A. in Experimental Multimedia from Brown University and completed the NYC Mayor’s Office and NYU Stern School of Business’ “Streetwise MBA” program for creative entrepreneurs. In 2011, Wilson received the Art Directors Club’s “Young Guns 9” recognizing the vanguard of creative professionals under 30 and serves on boards and juries in the audio, advertising and design communities, including serving as the youngest president of the East Coast board of the Association of Music Producers.

Craig Caniglia 

Craig fell in love with music at an early age, beginning piano lessons at age 5 and teaching himself guitar as a teenager. After playing with various bands and as a solo artist throughout his time in high school and at Ithaca College. Craig sought solace behind the mixing desk – studying at SAE Institute in Manhattan and working at the legendary Cherokee Studios in Los Angeles. As the head of sonic branding at Human, Craig has helped craft the sonic identity for such brands as Hilton, Crest, Apple TV+, National Geographic, Ikea, and NPR Network.

Amy Crawford

Amy Crawford is a composer, producer and performer raised in Northern California and now living in New York City. Primarily a keyboardist and vocalist, she has recorded and toured internationally. Amy currently serves as Executive Creative Director at Made Music Studio, leading the team’s creative work globally as well as the development of new audio products for clients including Disney, HBO, Citi, ESPN, Hulu, AT&T and more. Her arrangement of the CBS Evening News Theme was heard nightly nationwide for 4+ years and her thoughts on sonic branding & the future of music in media have been published or podcasted in publications including The New York Times, AdAge, Hypebot, Muse by Clio and Inc. Her work has been recognized by The Clios (Best Use of Music in Sonic Branding - Silver), The Amp Awards (Outstanding Sonic Branding), The Music + Sound Awards (Best Original Composition in Branding) and Promax (Global Excellence & North American Awards - Sonic Identity System, Gold). She has been invited to lead music & sonic branding workshops at AdWeek, The Future of Storytelling (alongside muppet friends from the Jim Henson Company), SXSW and spoken on the future of sound for NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

As a solo artist, songwriter & producer, Amy is a voting member of The Recording Academy (GRAMMYS). She has opened for and toured with a diverse range of talent. As a member of the band DeLeon, she toured alongside Gogol Bordello, Ozomatli & Chali 2na and bassist Mike Gordon of Phish. Most recently she traveled as the keyboardist for Brazilian tropicália legends Os Mutantes. An accomplished jazz musician, Amy received 3rd prize at the Shure/Montreux International Jazz Vocal Competition. She supports and mentors artists in the studio, most recently co-producing drummer/composer Jared Schonig’s double album debut on Anzic Records, “Two Takes: Vol. 1 and 2.” Amy has also worked closely with influential composer/saxophonist Anthony Braxton (a 2014 NEA Jazz Master & MacArthur “Genius”) for more than 10 years and has served on the board of his Tri-Centric Foundation. Artistic credits with Braxton include serving as Assistant Producer for the studio recording of his opera "Trillium E," performances as both a pianist and vocalist, and conducting his Tri-Centric Orchestra in concert. She also created the sound design for Braxton's opera "Trillium J."

Eric Ronick

A highly accomplished artist, songwriter, producer, composer and creative director, Eric Ronick is a self-contained musical force. 

As the co-founder of the successful indie pop rock band Black Gold, Ronick has traveled the world touring with Panic! At the Disco, The Pixies, Ambulance LTD, Neko Case and Echo & the Bunnymen. In addition to writing and performing, Ronick’s experience in music includes working with major record label recording artists as a touring musician, musical director and co-writer.  Ronick has performed on national broadcast television shows such as Saturday Night Live, Live at Abbey Road, So You Think You Can Dance, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, Jimmy Kimmel Live and many more. 

Ronick holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Wesleyan University, where he studied under MacArthur Award-winning composer Anthony Braxton. Ronick appears on multiple Braxton albums and had the honor of debuting one of the jazz icon’s compositions at the Library of Congress.

Scholarship Fundraiser x Hang the DJ

The AMP D&I Committee is collaborating with the organizers of Hang the DJ to put on an Austin, Texas edition of their industry mixer during SXSW 2023.

In addition DJ sets by music industry practitioners and an open bar for the first hour of the event, we'll also be raising funds to support our D&I Scholarship to help young folks interested in getting a head start in learning about our industry.

The event will be held at Cenote, a cafe with outdoor seating boasting Tex-Mex bites and craft beer. We encourage our AMP community in the area to attend!
